Teaching Resources

Lesson Plans and Assignments
This folder contains lesson plans and assignments created by faculty at Queens and other colleges. In general, the lesson plans are pretty innovative and cover a wide range of approaches to teaching writing. They should give you a sense of how other teachers work with writing in their classrooms.

Handouts and Activities for Students
This is a bank of handouts created by faculty and CUNY Writing Fellows–on topics ranging from using sources to overcoming writer’s block.

Manuals and Guides (for teachers and students)
This is a collection of writing manuals and guidelines in the disciplines.

WAC Library (Queens Hall 330A)
Writing at Queens supports a library dedicated to College Writing 1 and 2, the introductory first-year writing sequence at Queens College. The library is housed in Queens Hall 330A and is available to students and faculty of Queens College. Texts are organized primarily by course topic and tagged with secondary sub-categories such as: science writing, essay, and memoir. We hope this library will be especially useful for faculty who are teaching College Writing 2 courses designed by others.

Please view our online catalog at LibraryThing or browse the library to learn more about this resource. Please stop by and check it out. If you’re looking for material on a particular topic, you may contact Jason Tougaw, Director, or the Writing at Queens office (718-997-4695). We’ll do our best to help you find what you’re looking for.

This is a collection of links to other Writing Across the Curriculum (WAC) websites, WAC journals and professional societies, the CUNY academic integrity policy, CUNY write site, other CUNY WAC websites, blogging projects, writing programs at other universities, and Centers for Teaching and Learning.
