Philosophy 101: Introduction to Philosophy/ English 110: College Writing

Plato’s Republic is still relevant today, forcing us to consider our assumptions about truth, justice, art, and democracy. Through a close reading of Plato’s work, students will use Reacting to the Past methodology and role-play meetings of the democratic assembly in Athens, 403 B.C., as the city charts a course for its future. In English 110, students will learn the basics of academic argument – reading, thinking, writing, and revision – and pursue important scholarly questions as they build the authority they need to take part in today’s intellectual conversations.
