Media Studies 144: History of Cinema/English 110: Reading Film

How does film noir relate to politics? How did Italian neo-realism change world history? Students will find out as they study a variety of movie genres from the U.S. and beyond, and through reading and class discussion, learn how cinema’s history intersects with cultural and political history. Focusing on the Queens College campus, English 110 students will learn both to read and write films and essays, putting their studies into practice with writing and filmmaking, using a loaned video camera.Med
