Connecting Perspectives and English 110

Connecting Perspectives on the Liberals Arts and Sciences and English 110: College Writing

At Queens College we say a student “learns so that he or she may serve,” and there’s no better place to begin to make connections between your education and the world around you than in your Freshman Year Initiative (FYI) community, which links a General Education Perspectives course and an English 110 course. You’ll develop relationships with faculty who will introduce you to the academic disciplines, and to ways of understanding how those disciplines ask and answer questions about the world. You’ll also be asked to expand your intellectual comfort zone and make links between personal interests, local issues and global concerns, and to think critically about what you learn – ask questions, challenge convention, be curious and bold.
